Honest and Powerful Tips to Help You Launch a Business

Gina Ozhuthual is a corporate sales career veteran turned momprenuer who wanted to create a place for fashion forward, modern bohemian women to be able to shop, not only for themselves but for their children, in one chic location. Bohemian Mama was born in Gina’s Southern California garage and has grown to include a flagship retail location on the East Coast and a thriving e-commerce.

Gina was a guest on the From Broke to Badass Masterclass series, where she shared her journey of launching her business and got honest about some of her biggest challenges as an entrepreneur.

She also provided the following raw and powerful tips to help others pursue their passion and launch a new business:

Don't Quit Your Day Job
If you are interested in turning a passion into a business, don’t quit your day job. Your current income can be used to fuel your passion project. There will eventually be a balance and a tipping point where you know and feel that it’s okay to step away. Until then, don't give up that income because you're going to need it, especially if it takes you three to five years to turn a profit, which is often the case with new businesses.

Understand Your Business Needs
When you hire a team or outsource services, it’s important to be clear on your goals with everyone you work with. Educate yourself enough to understand your business needs and the kind of team you need to hire. Get clear on the tasks you want each person to accomplish—whether it's a virtual assistant or a paid media company— and be razor-focused on what you expect from each individual, so that there's no miscommunication or disappointment.

Know Your Brand
Don't launch into the marketplace until you feel that your brand is ready to be seen. You should be happy and proud of your branding, logo, and website. Your branding doesn’t have to be perfect, because it never will be, but it does have to be polished and clear for your intended audience.
