For over 20 years, both of us have worked in the mental health and wellness space – where we learned that the best way to positively impact self-care is to focus on mind, body, and spirit. In other words, your mental, physical, and spiritual health. And we believe that financial health plays a big role in YOUR overall wellness, as well.
It was not just our work experiences that brought us to understand the importance of the mind/body/spirit connection.
We both came to this knowledge from personal experiences.
I’ve written for the health and wellness industries for over 14 years and know that when people take the time to prioritize their spiritual, physical, and mental health, it leads to more balanced, happier living. When we get our head, heart, and body in alignment, life becomes more enjoyable, and I love helping people learn how to get to that place. In large part because I know exactly what it’s like not to be there.
There was a time in my life where I was so overwhelmed and stressed out with work that I could barely function. I had full blown anxiety with daily panic attacks and so many health issues. I was living off a strict diet of cigarettes and coffee, and never sleeping. It was ridiculous and lasted years longer than it should have mostly because I had no idea that what I was experiencing was the result of a total lack of self-care.
I was a mess.
Until I realized that there had to be another way to live, and I was going to find it.
Like Tasha, I also come to this space from both work and personal experience. In addition to pursuing my passions, I am the Vice President of Business Development for a healthcare media company, in an industry I have served in for over 20 years. However, I wasn’t always in a great place.
At one point in time, my husband and I found ourselves with over $190,000 in debt, as a result of credit cards, car loans, and a school loan. Through our struggles, we found that the only way get out of debt was to create an intentional lifestyle.
After paying off our debt and taking control of our lives, I knew that I wanted to help others achieve financial freedom while also helping them juggle the demands of home, family, and careers; and providing ways to help them find and live their purpose without sacrificing their dreams.
Fast forward to 2019. While we have been friends for many years, it wasn’t until that year that we decided to join forces and combine our areas of expertise. We decided to get together one night to see if we could do some sort of project together. The result of that magical meeting of the minds was the In the Life of Zen you see today
We both understand very well what it’s like to feel stressed out and overwhelmed and we also know how to pull ourselves out of that place by using the right skills and tools to get our lives into alignment.
Our mission is to inspire you by providing resources that focus on three key areas:
Money and Abundance
Passion and Success
Studies prove that when people take the time to prioritize their spiritual, physical, and mental health it leads to a more balanced, happier life.
Your overall health affects how you think, how you feel, and how you act.
Self-care plays a significant role in maintaining your health and it helps to support treatment and recovery when you are not doing well.
It is vital to your overall wellbeing.
When we refer to self-care, what we mean is taking the time DAILY to do things that make you feel mentally and physically healthy. Even the smallest bit of daily self-care can make an enormous difference in your life.
Self-care helps you manage stress, increases your energy, and lowers your risk of illness.
However, it can be difficult to maintain a healthy work/life balance especially while you’re juggling everything that life is throwing your way. You may often allow responsibilities and the never-ending “to-do lists” to consume your life.
Some people even find it easier to stay busy instead of relaxing keeping themselves in a state of high-functioning anxiety.
Healthy work/life balance can seem like an impossible goal. Many of us try to juggle heavy workloads with the daily pressures of family and friends, plus trying to meet our own needs and fit in downtime, exercise, and a social life.
Over 1 in 4 Americans describe themselves as super stressed.
In our rush to get everything done, we forget that when our stress levels rise, our productivity and concentration drops, which makes us feel irritable and anxious, and takes a toll on our happiness and wellbeing.
While a certain amount of stress is beneficial and can help us perform at our best, prolonged stress and the lack of a healthy work/life balance has grave consequences on our health.
Unfortunately, if you do not take care of yourself first your health will suffer. And you will end up living in the land of overwhelm and burnout.
Burnout has become such a huge issue in our society that in May of 2019, the World Health Organization added it to their list of International Classification of Diseases.
Just about all of us have felt the overwhelming effects of stress at some time or another. And while feeling a bit of stress now and again is fine (in fact some stress is beneficial), an abundance of it can cause our bodies to overreact and make us sick.
To avoid getting to that place, you need to be intentional about prioritizing your self-care and creating healthy boundaries.
The good news is that there are so many ways to do that and all of them can be easily incorporated into your daily routine. The key is to find the ways that resonate and work for you.
It’s important to prioritize self-care to create a healthy work/life balance.
Start small, even if you only have 5 minutes each day.
Ultimately, the goal is to get to a point where self-care is a non-negotiable part of your life.
We also believe that your financial health plays a significant role in your life. Having a healthy relationship with money is vital to your overall wellbeing.
Both of us had very complicated relationships with money which included tons of limiting beliefs surrounding our ability to save it. For us, attracting money never proved to be a problem. However, hanging on to money for longer than a few days at a time was another matter altogether.
Both of us have gone from living paycheck to paycheck, always close to broke to now being debt-free with thousands of dollars in savings.
Thankfully, that all changed when we started incorporating the tools offered through our tribe membership which helped change our habits and attitude towards money.
The powerful tools we offer in our tribe membership allowed us to create a positive mindset, understand our relationship with money, and achieve a state of Zen.
If it weren’t for these tools, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
And that is why we created our tribe membership: to share our experiences and what we’ve learned with you, so that you can also use that knowledge to live the life of YOUR dreams.
Our mission is to empower YOU to prioritize your mind, body, and spirit – in other words, your mental, physical, spiritual, AND financial health.
Our tribe membership offers lifetime access to a library of content including:
- Affirmations and Mantras to encourage positive self-talk and help you realize your worth.
- Tapping Sessions (also known as Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT) to help you practice mindfulness and conquer anything that might be holding you back from the life you deserve.
- Guided meditations that will help you reach a state of relaxed concentration to achieve emotional, mental, and physical healing and stress relief.
